On monday the 30th of September the school was closed and an open day was held to commemorate the opening of the school.
Programme of events for the day included :
Opening Ceremony by Lady Steele of Wolsingham :- 2-00pm.
Police Dog Display :- 2-30pm.
Fashion Show modelled by Hunwick School girls :- 3-00pm.
Gymnastic Display showing how gymnastics has developed over the past 50 years :- 3-30pm.
During the afternoon there were additional displays from :-
The Army.
The Royal Air Force.
Durham County Fire Service.
The Red cross.
Side shows included :-
Hoopla, Treasure trove, Darts,Peas in a jar, Cover a penny in a bucket, Electric bell, Knock the cans down & Pegs on a line.
During the afternoon Vinovium School Brass Band played a selection of music on the school field.
